Anto Room Divider is designed by Kasper Thorup in close collaboration with Snøhetta.
Developed for the interiors of the Oslo Opera House, Anto explores the definition of space without enclosure — a versatile room divider shaped by materiality, rhythm and architectural presence.
Anto — A Study in Spatial Rhythm
Central to the project is Anto, a room divider designed specifically for the Opera House. It explores how large, open interiors can be structured without introducing solid barriers. Anto defines space while maintaining sightlines, daylight flow and circulation across the open-plan interior, where a slender brushed stainless-steel frame is paired with hand-woven wool flag halyard to balance precision and softness.
”Anto is about softening large spaces through material and rhythm—creating definition without closing anything off,” says kasper Thorup.
In addition to Anto, Thorup Copenhagen supplied furniture for the brasserie and new café area, including the Noel Chair and Counter Chair, designed to complement Snøhetta’s interior scheme and support flexible use.
The project marks a significant milestone for Thorup Copenhagen, strengthening a presence in architectural contexts and internationally.
