Openhouse Magazine: Noel Counter Chair at Selene Bistro in Vancouver

The Noel Counter Chair is featured at Selene Bistro, a 2,100-square-foot space designed to immerse guests in the timeless spirit of the Aegean. Local artist Emiko Mizukami has adorned the walls with ethereal frescoes, and the interior strikes a balance of comfort, craftsmanship, and quiet elegance.

As these deities of earth, sea, and sky seem to watch over the dining room, the Noel Counter Chair becomes part of the experience: a balance of comfort, craftsmanship, and quiet elegance that complements the restaurant’s soulful design.

Seated on the Noel Counter Chair, guests are invited not just to dine, but to be gently carried into a world where myths linger, flavors awaken, and every detail — from the art to the furniture — is part of the story.

Designed by &Daughters’ co-founders Darcy Hanna and Emma Sims, the interior speaks through restraint. Grey plaster walls, concrete floors, and pale quartz countertops form a deliberately understated canvas. The architecture evokes Greece not through overt iconography, but through material memory — sun-faded tones and dusty textures that recall summer light spilling over volcanic stone.
